voyager voyager fly fly away
make between us a mountain
ebb, ebb, cold away
send your signal fountain
way across the nebulae
Just enough to verify
that you are still there
and we are still here
against all that can be imagined
against all that have dreamed
made wonder of nature
or any small things
frictionless gliding
without even wings
and yet leave behind
21 percent oxygen
and more life than
you could never find
now you feel bleak
less noise on your antennae
do you feel weak?
sent to the doldrums
a mote in the night
and yet a light
voyager voyager fly fly away
may you come home one day
and find us here, still
less lonely, more whole
more hopeful less dulled
radiation required
and it makes us so tired
but the alternatives
to turn away or quit the biz?
we ain't built that way, anyway
may you come home one day
voyager voyager fly fly away
