Music by Matt Steidle and Thats The Breaks with lyrics by Broomwatr and Matt Steidle
a story of a man, punched in the face, and what did (or didn't?) happen after things started to feel a bit thin
-intro-
I think it's happening again feeling pretty thin feeling pretty thin
cuz she said so my angel said so
-verse 1-
ran my face into a bouncers fist right on the lip, at this bar on the strip
and she was laughin’ about as hard as she could at me and my mouthful of blood
in the faded light, all i could find was this girl with her hair pulled
tighter than a pony tale should, the floor, the sky, the door
and my head full of mud
-chorus -
I think it's happening again
life is feeling pretty thin
feeling pretty thin
cuz she said so
she said so
-verse 2-
as my head hit the casino floor, she took a skip
like she was taking a trip, could I sense her in the back of the room?
oh maybe I could see her AJ’s fly?
in the faded light, I tried to call to that girl with her laces so loose she could lose them in the mud
her hair her jays the love it was all just too much
-chorus -
I think it's happening again
life is feeling pretty thin
feeling pretty thin
cuz she said so
she said so
-bridge-
took a shot in the face
and on my way down
we used to scheme we used to dream
but now it feels like it’s just a distant dream
you were my muse you were my inspiration
but now all i can feel is desperation
we live, we love, we fly,
I tried to hold on I tried to fight
she was already so far outta site
now it seems like a back alley scheme
we live, we love, we fly,
and then we say goodbye…
-pre-chorus-
like the pain of all modern things,
isn’t it a sin?
that it feels so thin?
never heard her even say goodbye
but as the desert wind flies i remember her eyes
-chorus-
I think it's happening again
feeling pretty thin
feeling pretty thin
cuz she [Gbmaj7]said so
she said so
she said so
she said so
Notes: This song originally was aBonnie & Clyde style adventure/romance, in fragmented scenes or experiences. We found we were forcing that concept too much, it was just difficult to commit to a full story but keep some of the mystery and not make it super contrived or turn the song into a super long ballad. After many efforts, Matt had an insight to consider the song just as an instance, right when the protagonist is socked in the face at the bar. So this set of brain-warp moments as he is falling to the floor, losing himself, and coming back but reality is feeling pretty thin.
